  • Trevor calling Phil on Tuesday June 7th: “Hey, checking in….(guy talk)”
  • Phil: “Hey where are you guys at?”
  • Trevor: “Catalina Island, but headed for San Diego in a few days…”
  • Phil: “Hey, we will be in San Diego this Thursday!”
  • Trevor: “No way….let’s hook up!”

So as it was, on Friday when we arrived in San Diego, we called and made plans to meet up with Phil, Tammera, Theo and their family who were there vacationing in San Diego for 2 birthdays.  The plan was made on the fly but was flawless! Trevor and I met up with Tim, Tammera’s brother who was flying in Friday afternoon, at the rental car place.  We drove 45 minutes to the Welk’s Resort where the family was staying.  Yes, we crashed their party too! (I think this is the third “crashing” Trevor and I have done since in CA)

After BBQ, birthday songs, and lots of good wine, we all stayed up playing Monopoly, the card version (I had never heard of it, thanks Travis for the introduction, but it was super fun and much shorter games).  Too many jokes and laughs to count, and even though Trevor and I had only about 2 hours of sleep each in the last 48 hours, we “whooped” it up until about 2am, it was hard to leave.  Trevor and I took the rental car home Tim or Tammera paid for (still don’t know who paid for the car, and who to thank). We graciously accepted with the expectation we would return it by Sunday 3pm.

Sunday, we were grateful for another short visit form everyone on the boat! The marina is a short 2 miles from the airport so they stopped by to say one final goodbye.

We are so thankful they made time for us on 2 different occasions! Phil and Tammera and Theo are our Marina family and how we miss our time with everyone back on E dock in Seattle (Eric and Martha, Jeff…we miss you too!!!!)
