San Diego part 1

Well, originally we had planned to stay in San Diego for 3 nights and then head to Ensenada……but the generator blew up in Catalina Island and we have been sorting it out ever since.  The short of the long story is we finally found a new replacement generator (Fisher-Panda) in Florida that we will have shipped out to us this weekend ($$$$$).  With the San Diego boat show and heavy into the boating season for the summer, all other distributors were 2-3 weeks for a delivery.  Needless to say, waiting for phone calls and endless research online we think we finally have a plan “D”.  Hopefully the new generator will be installed by the end of next week.  More to come on that project!

In the mean time, we decided to install the 2 solar panels we purchased and had planned to install in Mexico.  Currently Trevor is hooking the panels up to our battery bank but the install over the dinghy davits worked out good after much discussion about where to mount them, we found the perfect place that did not require us to special order stainless steel or Uber to a Home Depot.  It did however require us to do a huge purchase at West Marine.

We also installed rail boards to hold additional diesel and gasoline jugs.

We also have been having a little bit of fun….the marina we are moored at (Cabrillo Isle Marina) allows their guests to utilize the Sheraton pool and hot tub.  We have been there a few times to soak our worries and relax for the next day.  We have meet some cool people there….1 little girl, age 6, wouldn’t let Trevor go as soon as she realized he could jump from Trevor’s arms and be tossed into the water….and a nice couple from northern CA who was celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary.  There was also a resident pool duck that swam with the kiddos, pretty cute….

Is that a duck?

Saturday June 11th:

  • Kimi at 7pm: “Hey, I think it is our anniversary today”
  • Trevor: “Shit”

Happy Anniversary Trevor!
