Our friend Kirk on SV Due West had a stroke a month ago. We have tried to help them transition onto land and help them on their boat when they need it. It’s a big community here and everyone has helped with either rides to and from town, picking up items for them, caring for their cats, and visiting them in the hospital or their apartment while Kirk is doing PT and getting on the mend. We saw them yesterday and Kirk is doing really well….you are in our thoughts Kirk!

My dad has been in and out of the hospital a lot lately (sorry dad for calling you out). This is not a guilt trip but it has been hard to hear his health has been deteriorating and as many of you know how hard it is to be away from aging parents and loved ones. I know I am not the only one who is dealing with this as I have met many cruisers who go back to the States or Canada or, for that matter, stay in Mexico for this same reason. Trevor and I know that we have his blessing to leave on our Pacific crossing adventure but it doesn’t make things easier when you get the text/phone call. Dad…. so glad to hear you are on the mend of this last ER visit and I hope to hear the next time we talk you are feeling better. Love you!!!
On a happy note: We heard great new from my sister, Lisa. She is engaged to Jake, a native New Zealander. We had wanted to maybe meet with them on their trip to NZ this last month but timing and weather didn’t play out. Lisa and Jake, we are so excited for you both and can’t wait to hear the wedding plans evolve…hopefully with us on the guest list : )
