As mentioned in previous blog post, it made more sense for us to depart the country from here and throw in a trip to Singapore. First off, we were closer to Malaysia and crossing the Singapore Strait at an optimal time (currents) was important to us. Further, our next Sail Malaysia Rally didn’t start for a few days and we had some time to kill so why not visit Singapore now. Finally, since there was a high-speed ferry on Batam Island to Singapore, it meant that we would spend more time exploring in Singapore rather than from the Malaysia side which would of entailed a ferry and long taxi ride just to get to the city. It just made sense to to do it from Indonesia…..<\/p>\n\n\n\n
There were a few boats from the rally that had also decided to take the same approach and we were worried the marina would not have room for us…but luck was in our favor as we called them 15 minutes away and they found us a spot. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Making the passage from Nognsa Point to Johor, Malaysia would be a 45 mile day trip…so long the current cooperated. There is not a lot of ditch out options as the Singapore Port Control does not allow yachts to travel in Singapore waters…they are very strict about it…..so we wanted to make sure we could arrive in Malaysia in one go.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/li> ![\"\"](\"https:\/\/i2.wp.com\/svslowflight.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/GE-marina-2.jpg?fit=840%2C603\")
Nognsa Point marina is a resort…with resort pricing. But the pool was a daily activity accompanied with chilled beer : )<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n ![\"\"](\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/svslowflight.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/IMG_3372.jpg?fit=840%2C630\")
Instead of our usual anchor beer, we opted to head into the resort and grab a proper drink!<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/li> ![\"\"](\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/svslowflight.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/buffet-dinner-edit-1.jpg?fit=768%2C1024\")
We splurged on an all-you-can-eat buffet dinner one night..totally worth it!<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n Nognsa Point was really just a way for us to visit Singapore and a place where we could check out of the country so we only had a few days before and after our Singapore trip to enjoy all that Nognsa Point had to offer…but we had to check out the surrounding towns and of course check out stores with boat parts!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The buildings were a new sight for us with lots of color and relatively maintained…<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/li> ![\"\"](\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/svslowflight.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/street-view-1-edit-1024x768.jpg?resize=840%2C630&ssl=1\")
You could tell Singapore was close as the technology, signage, and overall look was much more modern and city like.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n ![\"\"](\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/svslowflight.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/marine-store-edit-1024x768.jpg?resize=840%2C630&ssl=1\")
There were supposed to be 3 “boat” stores but our cab driver only knew of this one….our wallets were saved….Trevor walked out empty handed (LOL)<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n ![\"\"](\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/svslowflight.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/mall-edit-768x1024.jpg?resize=768%2C1024&ssl=1\")
The massive mall….<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/li> ![\"\"](\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/svslowflight.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/huge-shopping-mall-scooter-parking-lot-edit-1024x768.jpg?resize=840%2C630&ssl=1\")

I will always love how Indonesia transport is a family affair : )<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n Nognsa Point marina was a little oasis from the rural\/industrial anchorages and was nice and pleasant place to depart from Indonesia…leaving a warm and fuzzy feeling as we left Indonesia. After spending 3 months in this beautiful country on remote islands, we were ready to insert ourselves into a bustling city environment…Next up Singapore….<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
