Russian Bay, Madagascar: Trevor’s Birthday…another epic one!

And yet another year passes…Since we have been cruising…Trevor has had a history of epic birthday celebrations: Mexico with SV Kenta Anea, Fiji BBQ pit with lots of PPJ cruisers, and now in Madagascar we were graced with almost all of our favorite people for his big day!

Trevor wanted to celebrate at Russian Bay, probably our favorite anchorage here in Madagscar….yes we made people sail 15+ miles just for the birthday party…we are super mean!!!! The other option was to have it at the Yacht Club at Crater Bay…but things are less intimate there and Trevor really wanted specific people to come and spend time with…so after a quick re-provision and beer run in Crater Bay…we lifted anchor and headed for Russian bay for 2 days and 1 night.

Thanks to Maria on SV Serafina and David on SV Starry Horizons for allowing me to poach their photos…I was a bit too busy to keep up on “documenting” the occasion : )

The Presents

Trevor was showered with gifts….

The Food

We were almost prepeared to feed 17 people for dinner but as always…it is always welcome A team effort…as we cruisers do… Pepe made an incredible potato salad and green salad, Maria baked a yummy cavassa “cake”, Amy brought appetizers, and Spill the Wine (STW) brought an array of delicious snacks to munch on….

The Cake

The Song….

Thank you Chris (STW) for this perfect video!!!!

The Wish

The People

Like we said before…Trevor had wished for a more intimate birthday…that doesn’t mean a small party…just means people he knows and wants to know…. We were missing SV Miriy Okean, SV C. Coquin, SV Neptune’s Highway, and SV Ruby Ruby…wish you were here!

The Kiddos

Slow Flight is a kid friendly boat and we always try to have something fun for them….this time we broke out our wood insect puzzles they got to make and bring home with them…I think the kids had fun….though I love that they made them selves at home and snuggled up in our bed to sleep while the adults kept on..keeping on : )

Family

While cruising for years and not being back home for 3…close to our hearts are those back home who we dearly miss. Thinking of our family…Trevor and I have a tradition to make my dad’s favorite cake, Pineapple upside down cake, for Trevor’s birthday in honor of him…now we get to add my niece, Kyla who turned one year old on October 11th this year…..Missing you!!!

Up next: Back to Crater Bay – tour the island of Nosy Be….
